Waipu Wedding

The summer of 2005 threw to us one of the most challenging functions we have done to date. Margaret Johnson rang to engage our services for the wedding of her daughter Bridget. Not too much of a problem you would think, and you'd be right, except for the fact that the spot they had chosen for their Marquee was a beautiful grassy paddock on the edge of an estuary on the Waipu Coast. That's all, just a paddock, and a tap!

Our brief was to produce a wedding dinner for 150 people, after serving bubbles and nibbles at an idyllic spot on the beach front some 3 km away. Actually the idyllic spot was on the beach front but down a steep incline that made carting glasses and bubbly, not to mention food quite tricky!

The wedding day was superb, beautifully cloudless skies and warm. The marquee erected by Castles Marquee Hire looked beautiful, and the day went wonderfully. The guests partied on into the night, and I'm sure there will still some of them awake when we got up to cook breakfast the next morning!

Everyone was happy, and new boundaries were set for us as to what we really can come up with in a paddock!
