We are EJ FOODS. We provide kai through the External Model. We currently service five schools through the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme. We are excited to have the opportunity to provide kai to your school or kura as EJ FOODS.
What matters most to our company is that we can provide to each tamariki a hot and nutritious kai daily. It enables them to focus and think on their future, allowing them to dream big, as every other kid.
We stand on a solid foundation based on past experiences, like what some of our tamariki are going through. Those experiences shaped us to do above and beyond, understanding that we are removing the distraction from the outside struggles, allowing them to dive into their learning experience and enjoy it.
EJ FOODS is whanau-based. We extend our love and passion to our employees. Thus, we expect a positive and excellent outcome in everything we do.
Sustainability and Waste Management Practices
Our packaging and cutlery are 100% compostable, eco-friendly, and comply with NZ policies. Packaging is labelled with production details, best-before date, and nutritional information. In addition, we provide take-away mini bags with meals to enable students to take leftover food home.
We use reusable food carriers, which are sterilised daily.
If it is safe to do so, we will re-distribute any surplus of food to our local communities’ hubs and neighbours in need.
We currently have a plan to use the new fully electric LDV E-deliver9 van that delivers to 2/3 schools at once. It optimises logistical costs and reduces carbon emissions.
We commit to working with each school to collaborate in finding the optimum and most cost-effective way to deal with the disposal of packaging and food waste at no additional cost to the school.
